Select Class Ensembles for ISSMA Solo & Ensemble Contest

Auditions for our Select Class Ensembles will be held in conjunction with our 2nd Nine Weeks Group Summative Singing Test Friday, 11/6 (White Day) and Monday, 11/9 (Blue Day).  Therefore, every student will audition for the ensembles.

Even though ISSMA Solo & Ensemble Contest, held at Doe Creek Middle School, doesn't take place until February 6, 2016, the registration deadline is coming up soon.

When forming the select ensembles, Mrs. Clifford and Ms. Barnett will not only consider a student's singing ability but also his/her interest in participating in such an event.  Full details can be found here.

Macy's A cappella Challenge

We've entered the elementary/middle school division of the Macy's A cappella Challenge!!!  To view our submission, please click here.
The winner in each division will receive $25,000.00 for its school choir program.

Just the Guys Concert

The 7th and 8th grade boys are doing a wonderful job as we prepare for the "Just the Guys" Concert on Thursday, October 8th.  This concert is held at Franklin Central High School, and all the information you need can be found here.  The middle school boys from both East and West will sing Music's Echo, Shut Up and Dance and they will join the high school boys for Come Travel with Me, a rousing finale.  Thanks, Mrs. Clifford & Ms. Barnett

Circle the State and Honor Choir Information

Auditions for "Circle the State with Song" and "Honor Choir" will be held during class Monday, September 14th through Friday, September 18th.  The audition includes singing "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean" and echoing a few short melodic patterns.

The information for these voluntary events can be found here.  These are fantastic opportunities for talented and motivated choral singers!

Happy Summer!

Greetings!  We hope that you're having a great summer and that you're ready to get back to East and back to singing!  As many of you know, Ms. El-Kareh is moving to Minnesota.  We wish her the best in her new endeavors.

We are very excited to welcome Ms. Barnett to East!!!  She student-taught with us a couple of years ago, and she's back to stay. :-)

Franklin Township 6th Grade Choral Festival

The Franklin Township 6th Grade Choral Festival is this Saturday at FTMS East!  This is required event for all 6th grade choir students from East and West.  Click here for the schedule and full details.

ISSMA Organizational Contest is coming up soon on Saturday, March 14th at Southport Middle School.  This is a required event for all 7th and 8th grade choir students.  Click here for the schedule and full details.

Circle the State With Song

38 students represented East at Circle the State With Song last weekend at Connorsville Senior High School. They gathered together with students from other schools around the state to form a massive 180 person choir. After practicing diligently all day, they finally got to perform for a packed house at 3 PM. The Circle choir was directed by Dr. Scott Buchanan, Director of Choral Activities from Indiana State University.

Our very own Mrs. Clifford was the accompanist for this event.

We're taking it to State!

Our most heartfelt congratulations to the members of the Kellum Ensemble for an energizing performance of "Ching-a-Ring-Chaw" at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival. They earned a Gold Rating, equal to that of high school groups.

February 27th Pre-Contest Clinic

This event is for all 7th and 8th Grade choir students on Friday, February 27, 2015 after school.  The choirs will get to work with outstanding guest judges!  The acknowledgement form is due February 19, 2015

Solo and Ensemble

East was well represented today! Every soloist and small ensemble received a Gold Rating! Congratulations to all who participated!

Margaret Ennis sang, "In My Own Little Corner" from Cinderella

Emilie Kebe and Sophie Duncan came out to support Savannah Duncan, who sang, "On My Own" from Les Miserables. Sophie also sang in the Hylton Ensemble and Emilie sang in the Rice Ensemble.

Extra practices really count!

Here is a sneak peak at the Kellum Ensemble preparing for Solo and Ensemble Contest on January 31st. They are entering in the Group 1 Category, the most difficult level. Almost all entries into Group 1 come from the high school level. If they earn a Gold Rating, they will qualify for State!

Choir and Sports

Here is our 7th Grade Boys Basketball team in their last game against West on 1/22. Half the team is comprised of boys from 7th Grade Mixed Choir! We are so proud of you!

Honor Choir

Solo and Ensemble Detailed Information

Students participating in Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday, January 31st received this packet at school today. Enclosed are performance times, maps, directions, and everything you might want to know! All participants have been working very hard to make this contest a success! Pride rehearsals for ensembles will start next week.

Kings Island Trip- May 16th

Students received the Kings Island information packet last week. It can be viewed here. Money, permission form, and health form are due on January 30th. Forms may be accepted after the deadline, but we cannot guarantee you will get a spot.
